[edit]Does someone know who made the portrait of Wolf?
language of translations
[edit]The language of his translations of Demosthenes and Isocrates seems to be Latin, but this needs confirmation. --Fsojic (talk) 22:55, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
What name replaced the term "Byzantine" in western sources??
[edit]I was reading through the article and this passage here is very problematic:
"This reference to "Byzantinae" has since spread through western European scholars and gradually replaced the name Roman as used in the Eastern Roman Empire by the term Byzantine, to denote medieval Greek-speaking literature from the Eastern Roman Empire."
The name "byzantine" did not replaced the name Roman in the western sources but the name Greek. I can assure you, I have literally read primary medieval texts and I can never seen anyone from europe call the eastern romans as Romans but as Greeks. Throughout the periods until the 19th century. And I'm sure in many articles in Wikipedia this factual reality is explicitly mentioned also. So, what this passage try to do? This tendency nowadays from Wikipedia authors to totally buried the name greece and greeks when in comes to byzantines is extremely problematic and in fact harms the encyclopedia since appears some glaring contradictions between the articles in this weird obsession to avoid the mention or usage of the name Greece. Spoiler alert: you can't avoid it or try to bypass it. Its also a historical term for the byzantines and its usage existed for centuries to label the empire and its people. Stop this weird "war" cause many times, articles doesn't make sense and those who have read primary sources are laughing.
